Everything is connected

Berlin, December 28, 2021

Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859), who was born and died in Berlin.
Of nobility, which shows in the addition 'von'.
There is no person in the whole world after whom so many places are named.
I decide to read his biography in Berlin, published by Andrea Wulf in 2015.

Andrea Wulf: "It was Humboldt himself, who provided us the concept of nature.

The Humboldtforum Berlin will open in early 2022, after years of new construction, remodeling, incorporation, and discussion. The Humboldt Forum is built on the exact location of the Berliner Stadtschloss, a historic city castle and former winter residence of the kings of Prussia and the German emperors, among others. This castle was blown up on the orders of the party chairman in the GDR, fall 1950, to make way for the Palace of the Republic, which was demolished 34 years later.
The building, housing the Humboldt Forum, is a partial replica of this Berliner Stadtschloss. Three of the four facades of the Humboldt Forum are as faithful to a reconstruction as possible of this Stadtschloss. The castle, with a new layout behind an old facade, brings together old and new.
The Humboldt Forum in Berlin's City Palace is a universal museum and, as it says itself, "a place for culture and science, for exchange and debate." In addition to two ethnological museums, the Humboldt Forum also houses the exhibition Berlin Global,  curated by Paul Spies, former director of Amsterdam Museum in the Netherlands.
