The Kupferstichkabinett in Berlin houses Sternenhalle der Königin der Nacht , an 1815 painting by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, to which the metrostatiion Museuminsel owes its sky. In the Study Room, I was able to view the gouache. A fascimile, that is, as one of the most precious possessions in the collection.

Schinkel created this work as a theatre scene for the opera Die Zauberflöte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (music) en Emanuel Schikaneder (libretto).
